The Reality or the Dream?
- The Giver "5 Looks"

In Lois Lowry's novel, The Giver I chose these five words:
Independent:
With the independence that the main character shows, I thought this was a good potential word to describe the novel because in this community independents isn't allowed and your life is literally governed in what you can and can’t do so independents isn't seen. In fact with the main character small actions are being made that shows his independents besides the fact that the community has rules.
 Brave:
Brave is an important word in describing this novel because the main character must go through a lot of bravery to go through his change from being a ordinary community civilian into someone looked upon with great honor and respect, so it takes a lot of bravery.
 Need for change:
The need for change in the main characters mind is very present even though he doesn’t state it, he does show it. This phrase of words is very important for the novel because change is absolutely not allowed in this community everything is to be as the elders wish it. There is no room for change just perfection.
Creation:
The creation of this community is something that no one in the actual community can understand; because everyone is trained from berth it is not questioned. This word is important because due to the creation of this people don’t have a reality or even now of it.
Reality:
Reality, this is probably one of the most important words to me because the people in the community don’t have one so they live in a sort of dream with no reality.  However if they ever do come up with the reality of their lives some of these other terms would spring up and perfection would have to be tossed out of the community.

  1. Good word choices and that photo is a nice opener for the ideas that you write about. This post gives us a real "snapshot" of the book.
